Customising the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450

Probably the most popular Royal Enfield we sell to new riders up here at GRID Motorcycles. The Guerrilla 450 looks as good as a Ducati Scrambler but costs almost half the price. Straight out of the box it’s a really good looking bike. But there are a few kooky bits - the oversized indicators, the extra long plate holder, big mirrors to name a few.

If you’re tired of the Interceptor 650 custom world, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 might be the new bike to mould to your style. A sleek and modern roadster built on the Sherpa 450 liquid-cooled engine platform, it presents a compelling new canvas for customisation. Its modern chassis, powerful engine, and distinct styling offer a fresh departure from the classic twins, inviting builders to explore new aesthetic and performance horizons. The standard 39HP is better than a lot of the air-cooled Enfield’s power to size ratio. Drop the Cat and put a better air filter on these models and you can get up to 47HP. Punchy and much lighter than the 650s = heaps of fun!

The Guerrilla 450: Why It’s Ripe for Customisation

The Guerrilla 450 is inherently modern, but its simple, exposed frame and accessible architecture make it perfect for modification.

  • Modern Performance: The liquid-cooled 452cc engine and modern suspension offer a solid foundation for performance enhancements, unlike the classic air-cooled units. It also features Royal Enfield’s new display with built in turn by turn navigation. Giving you the best of the new world with the classic scrambler looks.

  • Minimalist Design: The stock bike has a relatively uncluttered design, making it easier to strip back and reinvent in various styles.

  • Platform Potential: Sharing a platform with the Himalayan 450, the Guerrilla 450 benefits from potential cross-platform modifications, especially in suspension and electronic components.

Here’s our favourite custom Guerrilla 450s out there right now:

GRID’s Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Demo

Our demo bikes get a fair amount of use - they aren’t just pretty pieces that sit on the shop floor. But we also like to showcase what a few small changes can do to the overall look and feel of the Royal Enfield models. Our demo bike has been stripped of that long license plate holder and replaced by a neat black tail tidy which also mounts the 3 in 1 Purpose Built Moto hollow tip lights. Much cleaner, brighter and completely transforms the backend of the bike. We’ve stripped those clunky big indicators and tail light.

On the front we’ve removed the bulky indicators and replaced with hollow tip black LED indicators which are both brighter and more discreet. We’ve also swapped the big mirrors for under bar end mirrors from Purpose Built Moto. The stock headlight and display are pretty good on these bikes so no changes needed there. The small changes we did make transform the look from learner commuter to custom scrambler.

These small changes cost around $1,000 installed including the lights, tail tidy, mirrors. A small change that takes a few hours but makes the whole bike look way better. Contact GRID to get this installed on your Guerilla 450 or buy one from us with this kit already fitted.

For our next GRID Guerrilla we will play around with some bigger changes - custom tank, upgraded shocks, bodykit. But for now we’re going to enjoy this shop demo.
